Scheme of Examination

The Combined Hindi Translators Examination, 2026 schedule is listed below.

Question types: Only multiple-choice questions of the objective type will be included in
Paper I. Candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear in Paper-II (Descriptive Paper) based on their scores on Paper-I (Computer Based Examination).

Negative marking: In Paper I, each incorrect response will result in a 0.25 mark deduction. As a result, candidates are urged to consider this before responding to the question.

Normalization of marks: If the Computer Based Examination is administered in multiple shifts, the candidates' scores will be normalized using the process outlined in the Commission's Notice dated 02-06-2025. The final merit and cut-off marks will be determined using these normalized scores.

Indicative Syllabus

Paper-I (Computer Based Examination): The questions are intended to assess the applicants' comprehension of the languages and literature, their ability to write the languages accurately, precisely, and successfully, and their proper usage of words, phrases, and idioms. There will be degree-level questions.

Paper-II (Translation and Essay): This paper will include two translation passages—one from Hindi to English and one from English to Hindi—as well as an essay in both Hindi and English to assess the candidates' translation abilities and their capacity to write and understand the two languages accurately, precisely, and successfully. The paper's level will be in line with the required educational background.
