Assam Scooty Scheme 2026 – Apply Online, Eligibility & Last Date
The Directorate of Higher Education, Assam has started the online application process for the Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award 2026, popularly known as the Assam Scooty Scheme 2026. Students who secured 80% or above marks in the Higher Secondary Examination (HS) 2026 conducted by the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) can submit their online applications from 29 July 2026 (2:00 PM) to 21 August 2026 (6:00 PM).
Under this scheme, eligible students will receive a free scooter along with a helmet. The Government of Assam will also bear the cost of vehicle registration and insurance.

📖 About Assam Scooty Scheme 2026
The Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award is a flagship initiative of the Government of Assam under the Pragyan Bharati Scheme. It aims to encourage academically outstanding students by providing them with a scooter to support higher education and daily commuting.
Students who passed the Higher Secondary Final Examination 2026 with 80% or more marks are eligible to apply. This year, submitting the online application is compulsory to ensure proper verification of beneficiaries and to avoid duplication with other government schemes.

Students applying for the Assam Scooty Scheme 2026 must satisfy all the following eligibility conditions.

📢 Why 2026 is the Last Year of Scooter Distribution
According to the Assam Budget 2026–27, around 18,000 eligible Higher Secondary students will receive scooters this year. The Government has announced that the scooter distribution programme will be discontinued from the next academic session.
The budget allocated for scooters will instead be used to strengthen the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Asoni (MMNMA) and Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Babu Asoni, allowing financial assistance to reach a larger number of students.

The distribution of scooters follows the official process below.
- ASSEB prepares the list of students securing 80% or above marks.
- Eligible students submit the online application.
- The Directorate publishes the provisional list of beneficiaries.
- After verification, the final beneficiary list is released.
- Nodal Principals collect Appreciation Certificates from the Directorate.
- Students collect the Appreciation Certificate from the Nodal Principal.
- The certificate is submitted to the allotted scooter dealer.
- The student receives the scooter and free helmet.
- Registration and insurance charges are already paid by the Government.
