The official NTA UGC NET June 2026 notification for (i) "Award of Junior Research Fellowship and Appointment as Assistant Professor,"
(ii) "Appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.," and
(iii) "Admission to Ph.D. only" in Indian universities and colleges has been made public by the National Testing Agency (NTA). From June 22 to June 30, 2026, NTA will hold the NTA UGC NET June 2026 for 85 subjects in CBT style. Candidates may read this article and apply online for this exam if they meet the qualifying requirements listed below.
The UGC-NET exam is used to assess Indian nationals' eligibility for "admission to Ph.D. solely," "award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor," and "appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.

UGC NET Exam
The test will be divided into two sections, each of which will have multiple-choice, objective questions. The papers won't be separated. Only the Computer Based Test (CBT) modality will be used for the exam.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Restrictions:
JRF: No more than thirty years as of June 1, 2026, the first day of the month the exam is finished. Candidates who fall under the OBC-NCL (according to the Central list of OBC published on the website: www.ncbc.nic.in), SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories, and female applicants are eligible for a five-year relaxation.
Assistant Professor: There is no higher age limit for UGC-NET Assistant Professor applications.
PhD admission: There is no higher age limit for UGC-NET PhD admission applications.
Qualifications for Education:
(a) General, Unreserved, and General-EWS students who have earned at least 55% (without rounding off) in a Master's degree or comparable test from universities or institutions accredited by UGC (available on the website: www.ugc.ac.in in Humanities and Social Science (including languages),
