Divyangjan Scholarship 2026 - Disability Scholarships for Indian Students (Pre-Matric & Post-Matric)

The Department of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, has officially announced three (3) types of scholarships for students with disabilities through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). These scholarships are essentially centrally sponsored programs of Pre-Matric, Post-Matric, and Scholarship for Top Class Education for students with benchmark disabilities, i.e., 40% or more disability for the academic year 2026. Interested and qualified candidates may apply online for the Disability Scholarship Assam 2026 through the National www.Scholarships.gov.in.

Students in the SC category may apply online for the Assam SC Scholarship 2026, and those in the OBC category may apply online for the OBC Scholarship Assam 2026. 


 

Eligibility Criteria 

Citizenship: Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

Disability Certificate: The individual must have a disability certificate from the appropriate medical authorities and be at least 40% disabled.

Family Restriction: The program's benefits will only be available to a maximum of two impaired children of the same parents. In case if the second kid is a twin, the scholarship under these schemes will be admissible to both twins.
Other scholarship: A recipient of one of these programs will not be eligible for any other stipend or scholarship. The student may choose which of the two scholarships or stipends is more advantageous to them if they are awarded another one, and they must notify the awarding authorities through the Head of the Institution.

Ceiling on Income:

Pre- and Post-matric Scholarships: Students whose parents or guardians earn less than Rs. 2.5 lakhs annually from all sources will be eligible for scholarships.

Top Class Education: Students whose parents or guardians earn less than Rs. 8 lakhs annually from all sources will be eligible for scholarships. 

Documents to be Submitte

No paperwork needs to be supplied to the portal if the scholarship amount is less than Rs. 50,000. Students must turn in the necessary paperwork to the appropriate school or organization.

The list of documents that must be turned in to the school, college, or institution is as follows:

  •  Aadhaar ID or, in the event that it is not available, an enrollment receipt.
  •  A disability certificate issued by the appropriate authority that a government hospital's district medical officer or civil surgeon designates.
  • A parental income certificate, properly signed by the revenue authority and issued by the authorized authority in accordance with the scheme (form 16 is not acceptable)
  • A copy of the grade sheet from the prior year.
  •  The receipt for the tuition.

Before submitting their final application, students who get scholarships worth more than Rs. 50,000 must upload the following documents to the portal:

  •  A picture of the student
  •  A scanned copy of the parental income certificate, properly signed by the tehsildar or tax authorities.(Form 16 is not appropriate.)
  •  A scanned copy of your Aadhar enrollment number or card.
  •  A scanned copy of the disability certificate that was issued by the appropriate body that the district medical officer or civil surgeon of a government hospital designated.
  •  A scanned copy of the grade sheet from the prior year
  •  The current course year's tuition fee receipt.
  •  A scanned copy of the bank passbook or cancelled check page viii. The receipt for the purchase of a computer, aids, and an assistive equipment that must be uploaded (only in the event of the top-class scholarship scheme for SwDs).

To submit an online application for this award, candidates must go to the official national scholarship portal at https://scholarships.gov.in. To apply online for this scholarship, one must follow the instructions listed below.

Step 2: Select the link for one-time registration.

Step 3: This will open a new webpage.

Step 4: Register yourself by entering the necessary information on the webpage.

Step 5: After registering, select Online Application Form and sign in.

Step 6: Enter all of your login information and submit the necessary files to the site.

Step 7: Lastly, click "Submit" and print the application you've filed.
